A selection of our commitments: Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich The Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich has developed into one of Europe’s leading musical ensembles in recent years, winning a number of prestigious prizes around the world. Maerki Baumann has been active as sponsor of the Tonhalle for a number of years, and its substantial financial commitment contributes to the orchestra’s ability to perform at the very highest level. Moreover, the owner family of Maerki Baumann has a close personal association with the institution, being represented on the management bodies of the Tonhalle Society. Hans G. Syz-Witmer is Vice Chairman of the Tonhalle Society, while Dr Carole Schmied-Syz is a Member of the Board of the Patrons’ Association of the Tonhalle-Orchestra. Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich Support of ESAF 2025 Glarnerland+ The Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival Glarnerland+ will take place from 29-31 August 2025. Wrestling has a long tradition and is closely linked to Swiss culture. It combines the traditional values of Switzerland with the demands of modern athletics. Maerki Baumann supports the ESAF 2025 as a supporter and thus contributes to the successful realisation of this festival of national sport. ESAF 2025 Kunstforum Zürich The Kunstforum Zürich was founded by a group of active art collectors in February 2017 and promotes the development and enrichment of Zurich as an art location through debates and conferences. The focus is on topics that move the Swiss and international art scene. The independent foundation conveys knowledge and inspiration, facilitates encounters and is intended to stimulate discussion. The Kunstforum Zürich is aimed at the general public interested in art, at art professionals, art collectors, art dealers and gallery owners, as well as at art-related companies, political decision-makers, authorities and the media. Since 2019, Maerki Baumann & Co. AG has supported the Kunstforum Zürich with a grant. Kunstforum Zürich Schweizer Tafel foundation The Schweizer Tafel foundation builds a bridge from abundance to scarcity, offering direct, practical assistance to people in need within Switzerland. The organisation distributes around 16 tons of perfectly good surplus food to social institutions and distribution points every day, to the benefit of people living in poverty. Maerki Baumann is doing a good deed and providing manpower to support the annual Soup Day on Zurich’s Paradeplatz, thereby raising the profile of the work done by the Schweizer Tafel foundation. In addition, we make a donation every year to support valuable services aimed at people in need. Review 18th Suppentag Zurich Banking Association The Zurich Banking Association (ZBV) and its predecessor organizations have represented the interests of the Zurich financial centre vis-à-vis the authorities, the political establishment and the Swiss public for more than a century. The ZBV currently represents some 40 member institutions encompassing around 50,000 employees in the Zurich region. In addition, it is committed to high training standards at all levels of the banking and insurance business. The financial commitment of Maerki Baumann aims to ensure that Zurich will remain a financial centre of global standing in the future too. As a Board Member, Dr Stephan A. Zwahlen is personally committed to the Zurich Banking Association Zurich Banking Association Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance The Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) is a centre of expertise that has gained an outstanding reputation in Switzerland in the area of banking, finance and capital market research. In addition to its principal activity in research, teaching and training, the Institute also advises numerous commercial banks, central banks, financial institutions and international organizations. Maerki Baumann supports the research activities of the Institute’s talented young academics in the form of sponsorship funding, thus making its own contribution to the financial sector’s continued development. Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance Zurich Zoo Masoala project As an ambassador for the beauty of Masoala, Zurich Zoo promotes the appreciation of the rainforest both in Switzerland and in Madagascar. The goal is to preserve Madagascar's great biodiversity in the long term and to ensure ecosystem services such as erosion control, fresh water and the fertility of agricultural crops outside the park in the long term. Maerki Baumann helps to fund the Zurich Zoo Masoala project, for example to promote sustainable agriculture and reforestation or to support the fight against the illegal trade in rosewood.
